How can I vote?
Louisiana Mail Voting: Louisiana requires an excuse for mail voting. Excuses include being a student, elderly (65+), out of state, offshore worker, physically disabled, or incarcerated without felony conviction, among others. Requests can be made online with a Louisiana ID or by mail to your parish registrar of voters.
The deadline to request a mail ballot is 4:30 p.m. on the 4th day before Election Day. Completed mail-in ballots must be returned and received by the registrar of voters by 4:30 p.m. the day before Election Day.
Early In-Person Voting: All registered voters can vote early in person. Early voting begins 14 days before Election Day and ends 7 days before non-presidential elections, or 18 days before presidential elections.
Election Day: Voting sites are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day for Tuesday elections and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Saturday elections. If you’re in line by closing time, you have the right to vote.
